Abstract
Studies on the prevalence of elder abuse on the island of Ireland estimate that \n2.2% in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and 2% in Northern Ireland (NI) experience \nabuse (Naughton et al, 2010; O’Keefe et al, 2007). An ageing population means \nthat the number of people who will experience abuse when they grow older is set \nto increase unless measures to tackle elder abuse are introduced.
