O objetivo da pesquisa é identificar e analisar a existência de “ficções fotográficas” nos cartões postais de ruas e cotidianos de Belém compilados no livro-álbum Belém da Saudade, obra com farta documentação postal de Belém da Belle Époque do inicio do século XX. Nesse período, modificações ocorreram no espaço social e urbano por conta do célere crescimento ocasionado pela economia da extração e comercialização da borracha. Podemos pressupor que os “retratistas da urbe” criaram ficções urbanas fotográficas, para divulgarem a beleza da metrópole, imagens que mostrariam que a modernidade havia chegado à desconhecida e exótica selva amazônica em meados do século XX.
