Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Cars are going fast -- and the bills are piling up. The Detroit Free Press reports new car sales are approaching historic levels. But buyers are taking a lot longer to pay for their ride. Cars are going fast -- and the bills are piling up. The Detroit Free Press reports new car sales are approaching historic levels. But buyers are taking a lot longer to pay for their ride. The term of an average new car loan's now over five years -- a new record. And a quarter of those loans are stretching to six or seven years, according to the Experian industry information firm. Buyers are also financing an average of more than 28 thousand dollars. This mountain of credit has car and truck sales at their highest in a decade. And it's not just about buying cars. Leasing is way up, too. Almost a third of new vehicle deals involve leasing. The Free Press notes there's a downside to the shopping frenzy. When all those new leases end, it'll create a glut that will make used cars cheaper and trade-in values lower.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
