Abstract
Esta investigación hace seguimiento a un programa de Intervención Asistida por Animales (IAA), enfocado en observar y describir los cambios en procesos cognitivos como lenguaje, memoria y atención, además del progreso en motricidad gruesa y fina e interacción social presentes en un paciente con antecedentes de Accidente Cerebrovascular (ACV) vinculado a la Fundación Instintos en Medellín comprendiendo así los efectos de la Intervención Asistida con Perros (IAP). En la actualidad, las investigaciones científicas sobre la interacción hombre/animal en Colombia y Medellín no son muchas contrario a lo que se ha realizado en distintas partes del mundo donde se evidencia investigación científica a mayor escala sobre las IAA, manifestando mejor adherencia al tratamiento, reducción de niveles de cortisol y presión arterial, disminución de sentimientos de soledad e inutilidad, promoción de la sociabilidad, motricidad entre otros beneficios derivados de la presencia motivadora del animal en la sesión terapéutica aumentando su eficacia. Se desarrollaron diez sesiones para implementar en 4 meses a un paciente de 55 años diagnosticado con ACV, seleccionando cinco perros de razas cruzadas con predominio genético de Labrador. Se espera que este proyecto de investigación incentive la preservación, difusión y comprensión sobre la importancia de la interacción humano/animal y cómo las IAA promueven la reconstrucción del tejido social y e1 mejoramiento en la calidad de vida de las personas.
