Abstract
Les pressions de la famille immédiate, de la parenté, de la communauté et des autorités civiles et religieuse s visent à infléchir ou à contrôler les comportements des individus lors du choix du conjoint. Ce dernier n'est pas un choix individuel libre de toutes contraintes. A partir des actes de mariage, des fiches de famille (P.R.D.H.), des contrats de mariage et d'une approche considérant divers critères (démographiques, géographiques, sociaux et économiques), l'étude de la formation du couple chez les résidents de Trois-Rivières dévoile des obstacles et des difficultés rencontrés par certains groupes ou individus. Les pratique s familiales, sociales et économiques de l'alliance peuvent difficilement s'allier aux aspirations individuelles et à l'amour, surtout lorsque les usages paraissent intériorisé s par les futurs conjoints.
