Abstract
"En este artículo es analizado el proceso de ascenso de la educación a la condición de ciencia en Cuba, protagonizado por el notable maestro José de la Luz y Caballero (1800-1862). Los objetivos están dirigidos a revelar las especificidades del referido proceso y a descubrir los aportes de la concepción científica desplegada por el gran maestro, en su investigación de la educación como un fenómeno social. El estudio, puesto a disposición de los lectores, aporta también un examen acerca de la importancia de las transformaciones introducidas en la educación por el gran pedagogo, para la preparación ideológica y cultural de los hombres de ciencia y conciencia reclamados por el proceso histórico cubano. Para cumplir los objetivos propuestos, los autores seleccionaron materiales y aplicaron métodos de trabajo, en correspondencia con las demandas del proceso investigativo."
