En el presente trabajo de investigación se tuvo como objetivo evaluar la eficacia del emplasto de Plantago major (llantén) en la cicatrización y calidad de la cicatriz en heridas por quemaduras inducidas comparado con alantoína (Polaracrem) en Rattus rattus, donde se contó con una población de 36 roedores, los cuales fueron divididos en dos grupos de 18 cada uno. El efecto cicatrizante se evaluó mediante dos técnicas: a) según la escala visual de Vancouver, donde se obtuvo que el emplasto de Plantago major tuvo un efecto similar a la alantoína sobre el proceso de cicatrización con un puntaje medio en la calidad de cicatriz de 3.8 y 4.4 puntos para Llantén y alantoína (DE: 0.9 y 1 puntos respectivamente) siendo homogéneas las varianzas. b) la valoración en el tiempo de cicatrización, teniendo como punto de corte menos de 10 días, 66.7% mejoró con llantén mientras que con Alantoína, 55.6% (Chi2: 0.47). Se concluye que el Plantago major (llantén) es eficaz en la cicatrización de heridas por quemaduras.
