Abstract
Creativity is the driving force of economic growth in the contemporary knowledge society. The central question, therefore, is which type of education regime is most conducive for enhancing creativity. As East Asian countries occupy the top of performance tests such as the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), it is most important to understand the type of learning and creativity they stand for. For doing so, we scrutinize the revival of Confucianism in these countries and conduct regression analyses to investigate the impact of learning strategies on PISA performance and how that performance and religion are associated with position in the global creativity scale and economic growth. The United States, Canada, South Korea and Singapore serve as test cases.
