Tradicionalmente el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la ciencia se hace a través de ejemplos prácticos en el laboratorio siguiendo una detallada metodología científica. Pero qué sucede cuándo esos procesos se desarrollan en el entorno en que se habita. Más aún, cuando día a día se observan cambios en el ambiente producidos por lo que los científicos llaman cambio climático. A través de narrativas longitudinales de habitantes de la comunidad Inuit se obtuvo información detallada sobre el comportamiento y efecto que las condiciones meteorológicas han tenido sobre el sistema climático local y por ende cambios en su territorio. Los resultados muestran el binomio de conocimiento tradicional y científico en acción, además de que la percepción del cambio climático es evidente y modifica incluso el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje que transmiten los Inuits a las nuevas generaciones. Es necesario el rescate de sus conocimientos locales y respeto a su forma de vida, pero de la misma forma la incorporación del conocimiento científico.
