Pour des raisons encore mal circonscrites, une proportion importante du nouveau personnel enseignant en formation professionnelle décide de quitter en début de pratique (Tardif, 2001). C'est pourquoi, dans le cadre de cette recherche, nous tentons de préciser quels facteurs doivent être pris en considération dans l'attrition hâtive en enseignement professionnel au Québec. À travers une approche méthodologique de nature qualitative, nous avons réalisé huit entrevues semi-dirigées avec des individus ayant abandonné l'enseignement professionnel au cours de leurs cinq premières années d'engagement. L'analyse des données s'articule autour d'un examen phénoménologique des données, d'une analyse thématique et d'une analyse qualitative en mode écriture. Ces méthodes nous ont permis à la fois de faire ressortir la richesse et l'unicité des parcours individuels à travers le récit phénoménologique de chaque cas et de mettre l'emphase sur l'objectif premier de cette recherche, c'est-à-dire l'identification de facteurs d'attrition à considérer en enseignement professionnel au Québec.
