Du Cirque du Soleil, florissante industrie canadienne de spectacles, à l’infographiste qui conçoit des logiciels sophistiqués de jonglerie, voire des œuvres de cirque virtuel : le cirque, extrêmement divers et éclaté, peut être vu comme un « continuum discontinu » de pratiques. D’emblée, trois grands ensembles se détachent : le cirque classique, le cirque contemporain et le cirque culturel.
