Grand River Craig's Crossing Winter Illumination, Cambridge ON Canada
Bibliographic record
Abstract
A festive w inter i llumination view of Craig’s Crossing, the Grand River pedestrian bridge in Cambridge’s Galt downtown, and the Main Street riverscape . Construction of the 102 metre Grand River pedestrian bridge, linking the East River Walkway at Founders Point with the West River Walkway at Absoloms Walk and the Cambridge Sculpture Garden in downtown Galt, began in June 2017 at cost of $2 million. The official opening on May 26, 2018 was attended by 1400 people. Designed by T. K. Justin Ng and Joshua Macdonald in 2015, it rests on one of three concrete piers remaining from a long-demolished rail crossing, the other two piers having been removed by the Grand River Conservation Authority in 1985 to increase the river channel flow. Bronte Construction built the bridge using pre-engineered steel modules from nearby Ayr. The west module measures 46 m; the east module measures 54 m. It is finished in a natural maintenance-free rust coat that facilitates graffiti removal, has a wooden deck and waist-high glass railings with an aluminum railing. Salex installed LED Flex Lights supplied by SGi Lighting. The bridge is lit in festive red, g reen and mauve throughout December for Cambridge's Winter Illumination. In January 2019, Cambridge city council voted to name the bridge "Craig's Crossing" in recognition of former mayor Doug Craig who advocated for its construction. Mr. Craig, who served 30 years in public office beginning in 1976, 18 of those as Cambridge mayor (2000-2018), promoted a 'Back to the River' urban renewal to revitalize Cambridge's Galt core. Since its 2018 opening, Craig’s Crossing has been a popular Cambridge destination, averaging over 30,000 pedestrian crossings monthly.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
