Interagir avec l’environnement, via le mouvement notamment, suggère la connaissance de la position de notre corps dans l’espace. A ces fins, les représentations du corps sont en permanence actualisées au niveau cortical grâce aux informations sensorielles comme les informations tactiles plantaires particulièrement utiles au maintien de l’équilibre comme à l’initiation d’un pas. Cette thèse a servi à améliorer la compréhension des interactions entre 3 composantes : les informations tactiles périphériques, les représentations du corps et les mécanismes corticaux engagés dans le maintien de l’équilibre et l’initiation du pas. Avec diverses techniques d’analyse (électroencéphalographie, électromyographie, analyse cinématique), différents modèles pathologiques (obésité, lésions vestibulaires) et expérimentaux (tapis AlterG®) nous avons démontré que le dysfonctionnement d’une des 3 composantes pouvait être compensé par une réorganisation corticale des représentations du corps dans l’espace.
