Ce communiqué de presse s’agit du 9ème Symposium africain sur le développement de la statistique (SADS) tenu à Gaborone, dans la capitale du Botswana. Le document comporte également le discours du Vice-Président de la République du Botswana, Ponatshego Kedikwe, adressé à plus de 400 délégués à l'ouverture officielle. L'importante participation et le haut niveau de la nature du symposium souligne la stature et l'importance grandissantes des statistiques en Afrique.
