Abstract
Los tres ensayos que componen este libro tienen en común el examinar, a partir de casos concretos, el significado profundo de conceptos como autonomía, soberanía e independencia. Estos conceptos son muy tergiversados e instrumentalizados en los debates políticos actuales, tanto en Europa (referéndum en Escocia, consulta en Cataluña) como en América: el caso de Québec y la compleja problemática de las autonomías indígenas, desde Argentina hasta Canadá. Los autores estudian situaciones del Sur invirtiendo, en palabras de Aparicio, «el sentido del flujo hegemónico de conocimientos y aprendizajes » (p. 9). Los capítulos del propio Aparicio y de Bretón y Martínez Mauri profundizan en el tema de las relaciones de los pueblos indígenas con estados nación, mientras que el texto de Martí i Puig analiza el caso singular de Puerto Rico, casi un estado naciones, «asociado» desde hace medio siglo al país que ejerce la hegemonía en el continente, Estados Unidos. La perspectiva del libro es netamente comparativa, lo que permite superar las generalizaciones a partir de un solo caso que se dan con frecuencia.
