Le présent rapport présente les résultats d’une recherche menée sur l’impact de la crise forestière sur le développement des MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau et Abitibi-Ouest. La place indéniable que la crise forestière prend dans le discours politique fédéral et provincial et l’imposante couverture médiatique qui lui est consacrée confirment qu’il s’agit d’un enjeu de première importance sur l’agenda public québécois, au moins depuis le milieu des années 2000. Pour des MRC comme celles sur lesquelles porte notre enquête, dont la dépendance à des activités de première transformation du bois a longtemps été très profonde, la crise est potentiellement déterminante pour le développement local.
