Abstract

-- ABSTRACT: In preschool, the actors involved with the child have a responsibility for his or her overall development. The interrelated facets of global development include, among other things, the motor aspect, specifically in the context of this study, gross motor skills. However, since 2001, the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec has been implementing a reform that requires 5-year-old preschool teachers to evaluate children's motor skills (MÉQ, 2001a). In this sense, the objective of the study is to document the evaluative practices of 5-year-old female preschool teachers with respect to gross motor skills in children. To do this, 16 teachers from an Eastern Quebec School Board completed a self-reported questionnaire. The results generally show that teachers evaluate a set of movements (locomotion and no-locomotion) and actions (manipulation) that are not very complex when the child is autonomous. Information is collected using simple materials, an evaluation grid or a personal logbook, and more in local environments rather than in natural environments. \nTheir assessments are consistent with ministerial and researcher recommendations. In addition, standardized gross motor tests are not well known by the teachers surveyed. In the act, they collaborate with the physical and health education teacher. The communication of results is more frequent during the first and third bulletins. In addition, they place slightly more importance on fine motor skills than on gross motor skills in the evaluation. With regard to knowledge related to gross motor skills, experience is justified on the increase by their training and on the decrease by the lack of time and training. Then, the ease is justified on the rise by the fact that they are aware of the subject, their teaching experience as well as the possible collaboration with other stakeholders and on the decline by the lack of training and intuitive pedagogical actions. In addition, several factors may make it difficult to assess gross motor skills. Finally, suggestions for training and recommendations are made. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : evaluation practices, evaluation, gross motor skills, motor development, preschool, 5-year-old preschool children, competence.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
