Abstract
Cet article rend compte des enjeux relatifs à l'implantation des NTIC (nouvelles technologies de l'information et des communications) à travers les phases successives de leur apparition dans les champs d'intérêts du travail social.La première partie du texte situe l'émergence des NTIC dans le cadre plus large des théories de la société de l'information.La seconde partie examine les différentes étapes qui ont présidé à l'implantation des NTIC dans les champs de prédilection du travail social au Québec et ailleurs.Dans la dernière partie, les travailleurs sociaux sont conviés à réexaminer avec vigilance les nouveaux effets d'exclusion de la société de l'information.Ils sont par ailleurs invités à dépasser (notamment avec l'avènement du numérique) leurs résistances initiales à l'endroit des NTIC et à les reconsidérer comme des outils susceptibles d'aider les travailleurs sociaux et, potentiellement, plusieurs groupes de personnes défavorisées.
