Par le biais d’un cadre théorique composite (perspectives acquisitionniste et sociolinguistique variationniste), cette thèse examine deux indicateurs de compétence (socio)linguistique parmi des apprenants anglophones de français du programme bilingue de l’université de Yaoundé, à partir d’un corpus oral. \nLe taux élevé d’accord au pluriel observé chez les apprenants L2 véhicule une information importante sur leur stade développemental en L2. En effet, l’Accord verbal de nombre (AVN [1]) est une dimension clé de la morphologie flexionnelle verbale, car il constitue une pierre d’achoppement pour les apprenants L2 : les règles de son fonctionnement ne sont habituellement maitrisées que dans les stades avancés du processus d’apprentissage linguistique (cf. Bartning, 1997/Bartning & Schlyter, 2004; Prévost, 2009; Ågren, 2014/2017). \nPar ailleurs, cette recherche met en lumière de précieux renseignements sur la compétence sociolinguistique des apprenants L2 et sur la trajectoire du français parlé au Cameroun. Cette étude a entre autres trouvé que les locuteurs camerounais sondés, contrairement aux locuteurs européens et canadiens, conservent la particule de négation ne à une proportion extrêmement élevée. \n \n[1] « AVN », « Accord sujet-verbe en nombre », « accord verbal en nombre », « accord en nombre sujet-verbe» sont aussi utilisés dans la littérature pour faire référence au même phénomène grammatical. Des \nsituations en français parlé où « le nombre n’est marqué que sur certains groupes de verbes et dans certains contextes phonologiques » (cf. Ågren, 2014).
