L’exercice de l’enseignement dans des conditions difficiles pour un nouvel enseignant ne facilite en rien son intégration. Il mène, ultimement, à son épanouissement professionnel. D’ailleurs, plusieurs parmi les nouveaux enseignants abdiquent et prennent même la décision d’abandonner leur profession dans les premières années d’enseignement (Mukamurera et al., 2008). L’insertion professionnelle (IP) s’est vue largement étudiée, et ce, particulièrement en regard des enseignants du primaire et du secondaire possédant une formation initiale en enseignement. Or, d’autres types d’enseignants au secondaire, que l’on nomme « non légalement qualifiés », sont présents dans le paysage scolaire et le seront de plus en plus dans les années à venir en raison de la pénurie d’enseignants. Ces enseignants ne possèdent pas de brevet d’enseignement suite à une formation initiale en enseignement. Il peut s’agir d’enseignants de migration récente ou d’étudiants à la maîtrise en enseignement au secondaire. Ces derniers, qui détiennent un baccalauréat disciplinaire, se retrouvent déjà dans la profession sans aucune formation préalable en pédagogie et en gestion de classe. Alors, quel est le vécu de ces enseignants à la maîtrise en enseignement au secondaire à travers les diverses dimensions de l’IP? L’étude révèle des similarités avec tous les autres enseignants en IP, mais démontre aussi des particularités et des défis propres aux enseignants à la maîtrise en enseignement au secondaire.
