Cet ouvrage porte essentiellement sur l'incidence de la rugosité de la surface refroidissante d'un moule métallique sur la solidification, la microstructure et la résistance à la déchirure à chaud d'un alliage Al-4.5%p/p Cu. La rugosité du moule a influencé la taille des grains près de la surface par la germination et la croissance préférentielles de grains sur les aspérités de surface. Dans le but de modéliser adéquatement l'effet de la rugosité du moule sur la taille des grains, un "coefficient d'efficacité de surface" a été utilisé à l'intérieur d'un modèle de microstructure basé sur le principe d'automates cellulaires. Ce coefficient caractérise l'effet cyclique de la rugosité et représente l'effet combiné du retrait localisé autour des points de contact et de la variation de la quantité de contact liquide / moule. La rugosité de surface du moule a également eu un effet sur la quantité d'eutectique présent dans la microstructure. Les effets du moule sur la microstructure ont influencé la résistance à la déchirure à chaud de l'alliage utilisé. Les échantillons présentant les films liquides intergranulaires les plus fins ont été les plus résistants face à la déchirure à chaud. Ceci est consistant avec les récents modèles reliant la résistance à la déchirure à chaud à la présence de films intergranulaires fragilisant la microstructure durant les derniers instants de la solidification. \n
