Terhi Rantanen forsket på globalisering og brukte mediegrafi som en forskningsmetode for å bli kjent med globaliseringens påvirkninger på individer og vise versa. Soilikki Vettenranta mener at globalisering kan bidra til kosmopolitisk identitet. Forskningsspørsmålet i denne artikkelen er: Hvordan opplever fire individer fra ulike generasjoner deres egen mediebruk sett i lys av kosmopolitisk identitet? Denne artikkelen undersøker informantene i min mediegrafi sine opplevelser og tanker om identitet, globale mediehendelser og deres mediebruk. De viktigste temaene er hvordan min egen mediegrafi knyttes til globalisering og kosmopolitisk identitet. Et funn fra undersøkelsen er at den kosmopolitiske identitetsfølelsen nødvendigvis ikke blir sterkere jo yngre personen er. Rantanens mediegrafiske metode er aktuell i dag fordi individer lærer fellestrekk, skiller og ulikheter mellom generasjonene.
