Abstract
In de delta van het Lower Mainland in British Columbia (Canada) zijn veel dijken verouderd en niet berekend op de steeds hogere waterstanden door klimaatverandering. In november 2021 ontstonden grote overstromingen, waarschijnlijk de duurste natuurramp in de regio ooit. Mede hierdoor is er nu momentum voor Nature-based Solutions (NbS) voor kustbescherming. Tijdens een stage aan de University of British Columbia ondersteunden masterstudenten uit Wageningen lokale natuurorganisaties bij het verkennen van de mogelijkheden van NbS.
