Abstract
This is one of a series of interviews initially completed (circa 1995) by the Milton Historical Society (http://miltonhistoricalsociety.ca) as part of the production of the book "Milton Remembers WWII 1939-1945". The date commemorated the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII. Ten years later (circa 2005) a series of new interviews were completed to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII. Several veterans of Milton and the surrounding community were interviewed by MHS staff to document their experiences in Milton, their service to Canada (or other allied force) and the impact that this had on their life. This is the interview of Hugh Beaty who served in England and Holland in WWII with "R.E.M.E." (Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers). Hugh serviced and maintained weapons, primarily the 24 Pound artillery piece. This interview was conducted by Kay Bounsall in June 2005.
