Analyse des relations entre les bibliothèques et moteurs de recherche depuis les années 2000. Apparition des contrats de partenariat autour des résolveurs de liens, puis des contrat pour l'échange et l'exposition de données bibliographiques et puis enfin contrats de numérisation de livres. On voit ensuite se multiplier les acteurs du "système livre" et ce phénomène apparaît comme une chance d'équilibrer les rapports entre bibliothèques et moteurs sur le long terme. La présentation aborde le futur des relations entre acteurs du livres et des moteurs de recherche et conclut qu'une relation durable est maintenant possible. Les moteurs veulent indexer le contenu des livres et proposer des services commerciaux ou générant du traffic à partir de ce contenu. Les bibliothèques ont tout à gagner à présenter ces données via les moteurs pour augmenter leur visbilité et servir le public, mais elles doivent faire attention à ne pas dilapider le capital constitué des milliards de livres qu'elles possèdentet à trouver leur place sur les nouveaux marchés ouverts par le numérique et le web.
