Doktorska disertacija se osredotoča na problematiko odškodninske odgovornosti za škodo, ki nastane v postopkih zdravljenja ter analizira različne pravne ureditve v Sloveniji in tujini. Osrednji cilj raziskave je predstaviti zgodovinski razvoj in aktualno stanje v primerjalnopravnih ureditvah. Njen namen je ugotoviti, ali predstavlja uvedba nekrivdnega odškodninskega sistema primerno rešitev za problematiko, ki se pojavlja na področju civilnega medicinskega prava. V raziskavi so obravnavani klasični odškodninski sistemi v državah, kot so Velika Britanija, Nemčija, Avstralija in ZDA. Poudarek je na vsebinskih in procesnih vidikih, sistemskih spremembah in tudi na predlogih za oblikovanje rešitev v smeri nekrivdnih odškodninskih shem. Posebna pozornost je namenjena francoski in belgijski ureditvi, kjer se združujejo elementi klasičnih in nekrivdnih odškodninskih sistemov. Osrednji del disertacije preučuje sisteme skandinavskih držav ter Nove Zelandije, ki imajo v svojih pravnih ureditvah oblikovano nekrivdno odškodninsko shemo. V slovenskem kontekstu se raziskava osredotoča na veljavno zakonodajo, obravnava zaznano problematiko v praksi ter primerja prednosti in slabosti uvedbe nekrivdne odškodninske sheme. Uvedba tovrstne sheme bi sicer lahko do neke mere povečala učinkovitost odškodninskega sistema in izboljšala položaj oškodovanih pacientov, vendar pa ta rešitev predstavlja zgolj eno od možnosti, ki po oceni avtorice ne pretehta nad gradualističnim pristopom k spremembam, za katerega se zavzema. V delu so podani konkretni predlogi za spremembe oziroma dopolnitve zakonodaje, ki bi lahko pozitivno prispevale k izboljšanju odškodninskega sistema na področju zdravniških napak v Republiki Sloveniji, pri čemer bi bile potrebne nadaljnje analize ekonomske narave, ki jih delo ne zajema.
