Abstract
''Balga és gonosz munka!'' - süvítette 1939 nyarán számos politikus és sajtóorgánum, amikor egy addig ismeretlen pécsi történész azt állította: Németország, ha kirobbantja, bizonyosan el is fogja veszíteni a világháborút. A politikai vihart kavaró, s rögvest betiltott Szürke Könyvében a legitimista Lajos Iván azt is megjövendölte, hogy Amerika feladja izolációs politikáját: Anglián és Franciaországon kívül pedig a bolsevik Szovjetunióval is összefog majd. Éppen ezért arra figyelmeztette a magyar politikai elitet, ne hallgasson a német szirénhangokra, mert annak ''második Trianon'' lesz a következménye. A Szürke Könyv korszellemmel szembeforduló szerzőjét 1944 márciusában a mauthauseni koncentrációs táborba hurcolták, ahonnan csak a háború végén tért haza. Újabb jövendölése, bátor helyzetelemzése viszont már a győztesek rosszallását váltotta ki. A szovjet megszállók a vazallus magyar kommunista párton keresztül előbb írásainak megjelenését akadályozták meg, majd - 1946 nyarán - egy kazahsztáni gulágba deportálták, s onnan már nem volt számára visszaút.
