Abstract
Les phénomènes d'homogénisation et de différenciation sont plutôt perçus comme des tendances contradictoires où l'une réduit ou annule l'autre : soit l'humanité évolue vers la similitude, soit cette évolution est pluralisation. Cette thèse réunit les auteurs en sciences sociales qui ont le plus contribué à la compréhension de ces phénomènes et il en opérationnalise les discours de sorte qu'ils puissent donner lieu à une vérification empirique. Pour procéder à cette vérification, l'analyse se dote d'un corpus de plus de 11 000 articles de périodiques qui proviennent de France et du Canada. La thèse conclut à une évolution duelle de la postmodernité où se conjuguent homogénéisation et différenciation ; elle rappelle l'importance des modèles qui tiennent compte de la multidimensionnalité des phénomènes sociaux et qui sont à même de prendre en considération le contexte historico-géo-politique qui a une incidence sur ces phénomènes.
