Abstract
Contexte Les consultations en ostéopathie au Québec gagnent de plus en plus en popularité au sein de cette province canadienne. Cependant aucune information publique ne détaille le profil de techniques manuelles ostéopathiques utilisées par les ostéopathes travaillant au Québec. Méthodes Les participants ont été recrutés pour répondre au questionnaire inspiré d'une étude américaine et validé par l'équipe. Le questionnaire a été envoyé par courriel (SurveyMonkey), via les différentes associations d'ostéopathes et le média social Facebook. Le sondage était composé de 82 questions, allant de l'information démographique et le cursus jusqu'à connaitre la fréquence et la préférence d'utilisation de plusieurs groupes de techniques. Résultats Le sondage a été complété par 229 praticiens, sur une population d'environ 2 000 ostéopathes, représentant donc un taux de réponse de 11,5 %. L'analyse descriptive du portrait des ostéopathes québécois quant à leur cursus et d'autres données sociodémographiques a été présentée dans un article précédent. Les techniques articulaires, de Muscle Energy, myofasciales, crâniennes et viscérales ont été décrites comme étant utilisées de souvent à très souvent par plus de la moitié des répondants. Les ajustements à haute vélocité et faible amplitude semblent être utilisés souvent à très souvent par 39 % des répondants. Conclusion La pratique des ostéopathes québécois est éclectique et implique l'utilisation de diverses techniques ostéopathiques, parmi lesquelles les techniques viscérales et crâniennes figurent comme étant utilisées de façon prépondérante par la majorité des répondants
