Queen jokes with Canada's PM after toast
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Queen jokes about age in viral toast The newest leader in the British Commonwealth intended his toast to salute Queen Elizabeth but her majesty focused less on the compliment and more on the reference to her age. Canada's new prime minister Justin Trudeau delivered the toast at the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting in Malta. \As the Commonwealthâs newest head of government, I am honoured to offer toast to Your Majesty, Head of the Commonwealth and Queen of Canada. In so doing, I am deeply mindful of Your Majestyâs long and tireless service to the Commonwealth and its citizens.\ The queen who's nearing her 90th birthday had this cheeky reply to Trudeauâs toast. âThank you, Mr. Prime Minister of Canada, for making me feel so old!â Later in the evening when the Queen gave her own toast, she referred to Trudeau as the youngest leader in the Commonwealth. Actually, Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat is the youngest at 41. Trudeau is 43. From the Rivet World Desk, I'm Nigel Williams on Rivet.
