Abstract
The Alfred University men's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-1 victory over Keuka in its home debut Friday night at Merrill Field.The Saxons (1-1, 0-0 Empire Eight) stormed out to an 8-0 lead before Keuka scored its only goal of the game.AU's attack scored just 55 seconds into regulation and netted seven goals total in the first quarter.Keuka answered with one goal in the second quarter before AU went on to score five goals in the second quarter and three more in each the third and fourth quarters.The Alfred attack was led by senior attack R.J. Dawson (Northampton, MA/Northampton), who netted four goals and one assist and junior attack Bryan Bacon (Homer/Homer) who scored four goals, including the first two of the game.The Saxons also got three goals and two assists from sophomore attack Anthony McNeilly (Horseheads/Horseheads), two goals and an assist from freshman midfielder Dylan Macro (Camillus/West Genesee) and a goal and three assists from junior attack Ben Leder (Rockville Centre/Baldwin).Keuka's (0-1) lone goal came from junior Joel Johnson, who was assisted by freshman Lucas Hopkins.The Saxons will be in action again next weekend (3/24-25) when they host the 9th annual Terrence O'Connor Tournament.AU opens the tournament March 24th against Clarkson at noon, followed by Amherst versus Potsdam at 2:30 p.m.
