Abstract
This article aims to investigate the public-private relationship in basic education as a neoliberal modality (Laval, 2019) of privatization in the context of the management model of Full Time High School in Sergipe. Thus, theoretical contributions that go beyond Applied Linguistics (Zacchi, 2016) were necessary to provide a sociopolitical basis for the issues raised in the text, such as comprehensive education and pedagogical neoliberalism (Freitas, 2018). The study is based on qualitative research, using the documents implementing and maintaining full time secondary education in Sergipe (Sergipe, 2016a; 2016b) for data analysis and triangulation. So, we sought to recognize the presence of the private sector in the public machine in order to transpose its mode of operation into its gears. This action resulted in the recognition of the risks of these partnerships, which attack publicly managed schools and contribute to a democratic crisis in education that sets in motion a hidden agenda behind the discourse of the search for total quality, justifying the relevance of this study.
