Abstract
Tässä opinnäytetyössä käsitellään Riihimäen keskustan pysäköintiä, katuverkostoa sekä kävelykeskustan aluetta. Riihimäen kaupungilla on käynnistymässä keskustan kehittämishanke, johon tämä opinnäytetyö luotiin lähtöaineistoksi. Työn toimeksiantajana oli Riihimäen kaupunki ja työn ohjaajana kaupungilta oli yleiskaava-arkkitehti Seppo Itkonen. Ohjaavana opettajana toimi Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulun liikennealan lehtori Janne Rautio.\nTyössä muodostettiin nykytilakartoitus Riihimäen keskusta-alueella sijaitsevista pysäköintipaikoista. Pysäköintipaikkoja on runsaasti keskustan alueella ja niiden käyttö on maksutonta ja perustuu pysäköintikiekon käyttöön. Työssä tarkasteltiin myös katuverkon luokittelua ja sen muutosmahdollisuuksia sekä selkeyden luomista liikennejärjestelyihin. Kävelykeskustan alueen muodostuminen Riihimäelle on ollut heikkoa johtuen keskustan ajoneuvopainotteisuudesta. Työssä pyrittiin löytämään vaihtoehtoja kävelykatujen muodostumiselle muita Suomen kaupunkeja vertailukohteina käyttäen.
