Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Since the 1980s the Sri Lankan government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam have been engaged in a violent conflict where thousands of civilans have been killed. Despite a ceasfire being signed in 2002 between the two groups, this past summer Sri Lanka has been witness to the worst violence since then, with many people in the north-east part of the island been killed and even more displaced. Today's program is the second in a two part episode looking at the conflict in Sri Lanka. We will first hear an interview with Professor Jonathan Spencer about nationalism and the origins of the conflict in Sri Lanka. Later in the program we will hear from Tamil Canadian youth in Montreal who will give their thoughts about the conflict in Sri Lanka. JONATHAN SPENCER is the Professor of the Anthropology of South Asia at the University of Edinburgh. He has carried out fieldwork in Sri Lanka since the 1980s, and he has written about the conflict. NIVATHA, WAISHNAVI, and NIIROSEH are Tamil Canadian youth in Montreal. Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
