Abstract
En este artículo se presenta al público en general una visión acerca de la utilidad de los indicadores sociales. Se destaca en el trabajo que esa utilidad se deriva no sólo del poder de dichos indicadores para monitorear la situación de un país o de una región, sino como instrumento para la toma de decisiones en materia de política pública. Se presentan ejemplos de algunos indicadores y se evalúa la situación de Argentina.
