Abstract
Ce mémoire de maitrise étudie L’Encyclopédie de la jeunesse publiée par la Société Grolier de Montréal en 1923. L'ouvrage est l’adaptation canadienne-française de plusieurs encyclopédies publiées antérieurement : The Children's Encyclopaedia (Londres, 1908-1910), The Book of Knowledge (New York, 1910 ; Toronto, 1923) et L’Encyclopédie de la jeunesse (Paris, débuts des années 1920). Le mémoire fait une brève histoire de la Société Grolier et présente les éditions antérieures. Il se penche également sur le contenu de la première édition de L’Encyclopédie de la jeunesse et plus précisément sur le chapitre « Le livre du Canada » et ses articles traitant de la province de Québec écrits par des collaborateurs canadiens-français.
