Le présent travail a pour objectif spécifique de comparer les modèles hydrauliques pour simuler les débits véhiculés par le déversoir latéral afin de sélectionner le modèle le plus approprié. La méthodologie préconisée est basée sur l'analyse de modèles mathématiques de différents degrés de complexité. Un montage expérimental conçu pour les besoins de la présente étude a permis de comparer l'adéquation des modèles analysés pour simuler le débit réel déversé à travers un déversoir latéral. La validation a été faite pour un modèle mécaniste découlant de l'équation fondamentale de Bernoulli et pour, des modèles semi-empirique. Il ressort de l'étude que le modèle semi-empirique de Dominguez donne des résultats comparables à ceux du modèle mécaniste et qui concordent avec les résultats expérimentaux. On recommande donc l'utilisation du modèle de Dominguez, qui est plus simple à mettre en oeuvre, pour le calcul du débit déversé à travers un seuil latéral.
