Abstract
Objetivo: Conocer la eficacia de la aplicación de las medidas de seguridad en domicilio para la prevención de caídas en personas mayores.\nMétodo: Se ha realizado una búsqueda sobre la efectividad de las medidas de seguridad en el domicilio para la prevención de caídas en personas de la tercera edad. Se han consultado las siguientes bases de datos: Trip, NHS, Health Evidence Canada, Medline PubMed, BVS y CINAHL. Los estudios elegidos han sido evaluados con el instrumento lectura crítica CASPe.\nResultados: Se obtuvieron 17,197 artículos, de los cuales fueron seleccionados 17 de ellos, respondiendo a la pregunta de investigación. Tras pasar el instrumento de lectura crítica CASPe, fueron escogidos ocho artículos del tipo: estudios de cohortes, ensayo controlado aleatorizado y revisión sistemática.\nConclusión: La mayoría de los estudios coinciden en la necesidad de modificar el hogar de las personas mayores para la prevención de caídas. Por tanto, los notables beneficios que conllevan las medidas de seguridad y los productos de apoyo son aspectos positivos para mejorar la calidad de vida de la población anciana.
