L'objectif général de ce projet fut l'évaluation de la variabilité d'une méthode de mesure de l'épaisseur du cartilage du genou utilisant l'imagerie par résonance magnétique. Pour atteindre cet objectif, il a fallut faire la conception et la réalisation d'un fantôme radiologique ayant trois compartiments pouvant simuler l'os, le cartilage et les tissus mous. Nous avons démontré que la méthode appliquée présente très peu de variabilité. Quelle que soit la position du fantôme dans l'aimant, la répétition d'une mesure ou un test-retest, la variabilité maximale observée est très faible. Cependant, pour les variations d'angles du fantôme, la variabilité devient problématique.
