Abstract
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tutkia videopelien jakelun muutoksia ja mahdollista tulevaisuuden suuntaa. Pelien jakelu on kokenut suuria muutoksia. Pelien digitaaliset jakelukanavat ovat kehittyneet nopeasti internet-yhteyksien yleistyessä ja nopeutuessa. Tietokone- ja konsolipelit on kuitenkin perinteisesti totuttu ostamaan fyysisenä kopiona. Tässä työssä keskityttiin tutkimaan pelien jakelua varsinkin aktiivisesti pelaavien näkökulmasta. \n \nOpinnäytetyössä käytettiin tutkimusmenetelmänä monitahoista tiedonhankintaa. Työssä käydään läpi pelien jakelun menneisyyttä ja nykyhetkeä. Alan tulevaisuutta tutkitaan aikaisempien tutkimusten ja tätä työtä varten järjestetyn verkkokyselyn avulla. Tuloksena syntyi informatiivinen katsaus alan liikkeistä ja aktiivipelaajien näkemyksistä. Fyysinen pelikopio on edelleen tärkeä väline pelien jakelussa. Tulevaisuudessa tullaan todennäköisesti näkemään sekä digitaalista että fyysistä kopiota, sekä näiden kahden yhdistelmiä.
