Cette analyse littéraire du roman Sous les Vents de Neptune travaille les éléments propres du genre auquel il appartient. La définition du genre policier, son histoire, les règles qui permettent de comprendre la structure du genre sont décrites, ainsi que leur origine. Il s’agit de l’analyse d’une histoire d’enquête, d’énigme et du suspense. C’est un travail d’étude des particularités du genre mais aussi des aspects sociaux et linguistiques de la France et du Québec. Les personnages de l’œuvre, -surtout le commissaire récurrent dans les œuvres de Fred Vargas-, et l’assassin au trident, sont présentés dans ce mémoire de façon complexe, en permettant de faire un rapport avec des connaissances de la mythologie et de la psychologie de l’homme.
