Abstract
Louise Dupré occupe une place importante dans la production littéraire contemporaine au Québec. On a étudié la visée intimiste de son œuvre, ainsi que les modalités de la relation mère-fille dans ses écrits. Tout n’a pas été dit sur la douleur, la souffrance et la détresse, motifs qui paraissent centraux dans les poèmes de Dupré. Ce mémoire présente une étude approfondie de ce thème dans l’œuvre poétique. Une attention particulière sera portée aux recueils La Peau familière (1983), Tout près (1998), Plus haut que les flammes (2011) et La Main hantée (2016), avec l’hypothèse que la douleur des sujets parlants a des racines lointaines qui s’expriment au présent. Les recoupements entre la souffrance collective et la douleur intime feront aussi l’objet de l’analyse. L’on s’attachera en outre à la manière dont Dupré rend le mal-être des locutrices par diverses sensations corporelles. Cette étude permettra enfin de montrer comment se déploie l’écriture de la douleur dans la poésie de Dupré, de son premier à son dernier recueil publié.
