O desempenho atlético depende de vários fatores, nomeadamente a nutrição e a composição corporal dos atletas. Objetivos: Avaliar o consumo de macronutrientes e a composição corporal de futebolistas. Métodos: Estudo Observacional, Analítico e Transversal. Foram avaliados 72 futebolistas aos quais se aplicou um formulário que incluía um Questionário de Frequência Alimentar Semi-Quantitativo. A composição corporal foi avaliada através do método de bioimpedância elétrica. Para avaliação do consumo em macronutrientes recorreu-se ao estabelecido pela American Dietetic Association, Dietitians of Canada e American College of Sports Medicine. Resultados: Através da análise do perfil antropométrico e composição corporal, constatou-se que a maioria dos atletas eram normoponderais (92% género feminino e 77% género masculino). Verificou-se, ainda, que 56,1% dos indivíduos do género masculino e 60% do género feminino possuíam uma percentagem de massa gorda inferior ao recomendado, constatando-se o mesmo em relação à massa magra em 53,3% e 28,1% dos indivíduos do género feminino e masculino, respetivamente. O consumo energético médio encontra-se inferior ao recomendado (2091,1 ± 811 Kcal/dia, género feminino e 2535,6 ± 1025,9 Kcal/dia género masculino), tal como o consumo de glícidos (87,7% género masculino e 93,3% género feminino), encontrando-se diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre géneros (p-value = 0,033) ao nível de significância de 5%. Comparando o percentual da ingestão de proteína com as recomendações, todos os atletas possuíam uma ingestão diária de proteína dentro do recomendado. No que concerne ao consumo de lípidos, 73,3% dos indivíduos do género feminino e 35,1% do género masculino, revelaram um consumo excessivo. Verificou-se uma correlação estatisticamente significativa entre o consumo de glícidos e a massa magra (p-value = 0,005) e entre o consumo energético e o índice de massa corporal (p-value = 0,000) ao nível de significância de 1%. Conclusões: Os dados revelam a necessidade de aumentar a literacia nutricional neste publico alvo no sentido de otimizar a sua composição corporal e consumo alimentar.
