Abstract
Esta investigação descreve um estudo efetuado sobre as características pessoais, sociais e os fatores psicológicos inerentes à população idosa masculina, com mais de 60 anos e que residem na área da cidade de Lisboa. O idoso, portador de HlV, confronta-se com dinâmicas pessoais, familiares e sociais complexas e nem sempre fáceis de percecionar. São múltiplos os fatores, que não podem ser descurados, na exploração das características específicas destes indivíduos idosos, do género masculino e que residem na área da cidade de Lisboa. A bibliografia consultada e os estudos analisados são de países como o Canadá e os Estados Unidos, não havendo em Portugal estudos que caracterizem e que explorem esta temática. A problemática de investigação pode-se definir na questão: “ Quem são os idosos masculinos, portadores de HIV e que residem na área da cidade de Lisboa?”. Este estudo baseia-se no paradigma qualitativo, de cariz descritivo e ao mesmo tempo exploratório. A população em estudo é constituída por dez indivíduos do sexo masculino, com ¡dade igual ou superior a 60 anos, que residem em Lisboa e portadores de HIV. Foram efetuadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com o objetivo de explorar, não só as características desta população relativamente à dimensão familiar e social, as principais dificuldades, mas também os sentimentos vivenciados relativamente ao serem portadores de HIV, bem como a perceção que têm, de como contraíram esta patologia e os comportamentos de risco associados. Os resultados obtidos através desta investigação reforçam os fundamentos bibliográficos encontrados, onde se referenciam as dificuldades vividas, multas vezes em solidão e abandono: uma forma de sofrimento em silêncio, que se torna mais estigmatizantes que qualquer outro. São uma população que perdeu a esperança no dia de amanhã, que esqueceu os sonhos de um envelhecimento tranquilo. Muitos ainda recusam aceitar esta doença, mercê da estigmatização e da marginalização que pressentem trilhar o dia-a-dia das nossas vidas em sociedade, por isso, medidas de prevenção e comportamentos de risco são palavras tão estranhas como futuro e amanhã. /ABSTRACT - This inquiry work conveys a study about personal characteristics, social and psychological factors related to the elder male population, older than 60 years old that live in the area of Lisbon city. The elder with HIV deals with personal, family and social dynamics that are complex and not always easy to perceive. There are multiple factors, which we can't forget, when we explore the specific characteristics of this elder male individuals that live in the area of Lisbon city. The literature that was searched and the studies analyzed are from countries like Canada and United States, no studies were found in Portugal that characterize and explore this issue. The main subject of this inquiry work can be defined in the question: “Who are this male elder, with HIV that live in the area of Lisbon city?" This study is based on the qualitative paradigm, which is both descriptive and exploratory. The subject population on this inquiry is composed by ten male individuals, with age equal or older than 60 years old, which live in Lisbon and have HIV. Half structuralized interviews were carried with the goal to explore, not only the characteristics of this subjects related to social and family dimensions, the main difficulties, but also the feelings related with being HIV positive, as well as the perception they have related to the way they got this illness and risky behaviour connected. The results we achieved from this inquiry reinforce the bases we encountered in the literature, were we noticed the difficulties lived, many times in loneliness and abandonment, one way of suffering in silence, which makes it louder than any other. They are a population that Ioosed hope in tomorrow, which forgot the dreams of a tranquil ageing. Many still refuse to accept this illness, because of the stigma and the marginalization that they perceived in our lives in society, that's why the preventive measures and risky behaviour are words so strange as future and tomorrow.
