Abstract
En 1976, la conférence Habitat I à Vancouver avait mis en exergue que « la plupart des maisons construites dans les pays en développement sont fournis par les habitants eux-mêmes ». Quarante ans après, l'accès à un logement convenable reste un défi international majeur, en particulier dans les pays en développement, en effet, selon l'ONU-Habitat, 1/5 de la population mondiale n'exerce pas ce droit fondamental. Qu’en est-il aujourd’hui du rôle de l’habitant dans la production et gestion de son habitat, en particulier celui bâti en terre dans les pays en développement? Aussi quelle est la part de la femme dans la production et gestion sociale de l’habitat ? Dans quelles conditions participe-t-elle à ce développement ? Comment les projets de développement soutiennent-ils une prise en main par ces femmes de ce processus de production de l’habitat ? Ce mémoire DSA-Architecture de terre, réalisé sous le prisme du genre vise à apporter une réflexion sur les contributions des femmes dans la production et gestion de leur habitat, dans les pays en développement, avec une attention spécifique sur les cultures constructives en terre.
