L'émergence des codes de calcul numérique commerciaux et l'usage répandu des logiciels de conception assistée par ordinateur (CAO) ont fait de l'analyse par éléments finis un outil efficace de prévision des contraintes dans les structures mécaniques complexes. L'objectif de cette étude a été de développer une méthodologie d'analyse par éléments finis pour prédire le comportement en fatigue des structures mécano-soudées. La méthode proposée repose, tout d'abord, sur une analyse statique par éléments finis des contraintes, afin de déterminer les soudures critiques de la structure pour un cas de chargement spécifié. Une analyse plus approfondie de ces soudures permet ensuite, grâce à la méthode hot spot, d'estimer la durée de vie de l'assemblage soudé selon le chargement considéré. La validation expérimentale de la méthode hot spot a été réalisée pour un assemblage soudé mis en condition de fatigue mécanique grâce à un banc d'essai fabriqué au département de génie mécanique de l'Université de Sherbrooke. Enfin, cette méthodologie a été appliquée à un cas concret rencontré dans l'industrie, lors de la conception d'un nouveau châssis de véhicule tout terrain (VTT) de la compagnie Bombardier Produits Récréatifs. Cet exemple a permis de justifier la pertinence de l'analyse par éléments finis comme outil d'aide à la conception en fatigue, et la méthodologie proposée a été intégrée au processus de développement de produits du centre de recherche de la division Bombardier Produits Récréatifs.
