Abstract
[EN] \nIn this research the partial reproduction of an experiment conducted for the first time in 1963 at the University of Berkeley by Bresler-Scordelis (1) and in 2004 at the University of Toronto for Vecchio-Shim (2) is done, slender reinforced concrete beams were manufactured and tested to study the shear failure modes. \nUnlike what was done in the previous cases, for UPV beams the materials used were updated (concrete 35MPa) and the addition of steel fibers in the concrete matrix, for new series in order to compare the proposed operation of these with the steel reinforcement traditionally used as shear reinforcement. \n16 Slender beams were manufactured with two lengths (3.66m and 4.57m) and two concrete sections (A and B). For each section, four levels of reinforcement were manufactured: not reinforced, with transverse steel, with fibers, and fibers with transverse steel, to experimentally quantify the contribution of each of these reinforcements shear capacity and to observe the beams behavior with each type of reinforcement. \nAfter trying all the beams was observed that the dosage of steel fibers Dramix 5D (3) (30 kg / m3) used in the fiber reinforced concrete beams can improve the shear behavior of these, because it improves ductility through a more distributed cracking and increase the ultimate load that reaches the beam, to the point that for some sections the fibers can fully replace the steel reinforcement. Regarding the failure mode, in one of the steel fiber reinforced beams it was modified, but the rest of the beams failure mode was the same as happened in beams without shear reinforcement. \nA comparison with the design codes last load level is done, and how necessary are the safety factors proposed by each design code is verified. The dispersion of the results is such that even high safety factors are justified.
