Abstract
Les idées apportées de France en Nouvelle France s’y développeront durant deux siècles en suscitant des débats alimentés par l’écart entre l’histoire du Canada et celle de la France depuis la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle, dans les lieux de savoir. Le fil du cartésianisme apparaît progressivement dans les cours des professeurs qui enseignent la philosophie au collège des Jésuites de Québec puis au Séminaire des Missions étrangères créé par Mgr. François de Laval. Le mouvement des idées se diversifie après la Conquête, la diffusion des Lumières et les bouleversements de la Révolution française. Des débats entre le traditionalisme et le libéralisme se répandent dans les années 1830-1840, renforcés par des voyages en Europe, dans un contexte marqué par l’affirmation du Canada français.
