Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Chapter 1: Introduction 5Chapter 2: The History of the PKK and the Turkish State 12Researching and writing this thesis has been a long and sometimes lonely road. With the unique challenges of writing during the pandemic, I was unsure whether I would ever reach the end.Abdullah Öcalan may be able to write masterpieces while in solitary confinement, but I needed the kind support of friends and colleagues to progress on this path. This thesis would not have been possible without the support and guidance of my supervisor, Professor Will Roberts. Our conversations gave me the confidence to finish this, even if it is not perfect. His edits and guidance also proved valuable in refining and clarifying certain points, particularly as they related to Marxist theory, and in getting this thesis ready for submission.I would also like to thank Philip-Emmanuel Aubry

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
