Le présent mémoire de maîtrise traite de l'univers trouble des oeuvres autofictionnelles de l'auteure québécoise Nelly Arcan. Il porte sur la menace de l'héritage de la narratrice arcanienne de même que sur sa nature mortifère et son affiliation à la mort ; legs et présences qui se voient répercutés dans l'écriture d'Arcan. La pratique d'écriture est donc représentée telle une force destructrice et mortifère aisément assimilable au testament littéraire ainsi qu'à tout autre écrit testamentaire.

\nIl sera d'abord question de la douleur omniprésente dans les textes d'Arcan, douleur qui permet de comprendre et de définir l'univers de la narratrice. Le premier chapitre s'attardera sur l'héritage intoxiquant et aliénant dont est légataire la narratrice. Nous découvrirons les multiples présences, idées et êtres qui fondent son existence et qui ont prédominance sur sa propre personne.

\nLe deuxième chapitre mettra de l'avant la nature désincarnée de la narratrice. En explorant la presque totale désubjectivation de la narratrice arcanienne, l'univers mortifère sur lequel sont fondées les oeuvres autofictionnelles d'Arcan sera dévoilé.

\nEnfin, le troisième chapitre présentera la valeur mortifère et testamentaire des récits à l'étude. Je mettrai l'accent sur ces deux aspects par lesquels se révèle l'écriture arcanienne.

\nJe démontrerai donc que la douleur constitue un legs filial qui fonde l'univers mortifère de la narratrice et ainsi contribue à l'élaboration d'une pratique d'écriture mortifère et testamentaire.
